Mesoscopic Failure Behavior of Strip Footing on Geosynthetic-Reinforced Granular Soil Foundations Using PIV Technology

Two-dimensional model tests combined with PIV technology were conducted to study the failure behavior of strip footing on geosynthetic-reinforced granular soil foundations a mesoscale. The results showed that geosynthetic reinforcements improve bearing capacity foundations; however, effectiveness reinforcement was affected by position, length, and number geosynthetics. mesoscale factor affecting size sliding wedge in foundation, which changed embedded As depth, number, vertical spacing varied, three possible modes occurred reinforced foundations: above top layer, between layers, similar footings unreinforced foundation.
